Baklava
Layered pastry made of thin filo dough with nuts and honey syrup — famous Turkish dessert.

Ingredients

| 500 g (1 Packung) | Filo dough |
| 250 g | Butter (or vegan) |
| 300 g | Walnuts or pistachios (coarsely chopped) |
| 100 g | Sugar |
| 1 TL | Cinnamon |
| 250 ml | Water |
| 150 g | Honey |
| 1 EL | Lemon juice |
Preparation
- 1Melt the butter. Mix the nuts with sugar and cinnamon.
- 2Line a baking pan with 2–3 filo sheets (brushing each with butter).
- 3Spread a thin layer of nuts, then again filo sheets with butter, layering alternately until all ingredients are used up.
- 4Cut the pastry into diamonds.
- 5Bake at 170 °C for about 35–40 minutes, until golden brown.
- 6For the syrup: boil water, sugar, and honey until it thickens slightly. Add lemon juice.
- 7Pour hot syrup over the still warm baklava. Let it cool completely and serve.
Notes & tips
Note: Contains nuts (walnuts/pistachios) + gluten (filo) — nuts can be omitted, then as honey dough. Without egg, without cow's milk, without soy (filo usually without egg/milk).
