Whiskey Sour
Whiskey with lemon juice and sugar, shaken and served ice-cold — a bar classic since the 19th century, optionally with a creamy egg-white foam crown (No. 6 in the Drinks International ranking 2025).

| 6 cl | Bourbon or rye whiskey |
| 3 cl | Lemon juice (freshly squeezed) |
| 2 cl | Sugar syrup |
| nach Bedarf | Ice cubes |
| 1 Scheibe (Garnitur) | Orange |
| 1 Stück (Garnitur) | Cocktail cherry |
Preparation
- 1 Add the whiskey, lemon juice and sugar syrup with ice to the shaker.
- 2 Shake vigorously and strain into a tumbler with fresh ice.
- 3 Garnish with an orange slice and a cocktail cherry.
- 4 For the creamy version, first dry shake 1 egg white without ice for 15 seconds, then shake again with ice and strain.
Notes & tips
Note: Contains alcohol — not suitable for children or pregnant women. With 1 egg white the drink becomes creamier and gets a foam crown (it then contains egg; vegan alternative: 2 tbsp aquafaba). When using raw egg, make sure it is fresh.
