⚖️ Terms of Use
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Welcome to My Nom Nom Book! We're glad you're keeping your cookbook here. The following Terms of Use govern how you may use our service and what you can rely on. We have deliberately kept them short and easy to understand.
The key points at a glance
- Your recipes remain your recipes. You only give us the rights we need to make them available for you (and, if you want, for others).
- Be fair and friendly: only upload content you hold the rights to.
- AI assistants (recipe suggestions, cover images) support you — but always check the results yourself, especially with allergies.
- You can delete your account and your content at any time.
1. Who we are and what we offer
My Nom Nom Book (“we”) is an online recipe book operated by the provider named in the imprint. At mynomnombook.com we offer you, among other things:
- a personal recipe book where you can create, edit and organise recipes,
- public recipe pages and user profiles, if you publish them,
- a follow system that lets you follow other cooks,
- ratings of recipes,
- exports (e.g. as PDF), including from recipes that other users have shared publicly,
- AI support when creating recipes (e.g. from a photo, a link or a text) and for cover images.
Exactly which features are available may change over time (see § 10).
2. How the contract comes about
You can use the public areas (viewing and searching recipes) without an account. To have your own cookbook, you create an account. With your registration (or, if you already have an account, by using the service) these Terms of Use apply between you and us.
3. Minimum age
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are younger, you may only use our service with the consent of your parents or legal guardians — they must then also consent to the processing of your data.
4. Your obligations as a user
When using our service, we expect:
- Honest information: you provide correct details during registration (in particular a valid email address) and keep your account up to date.
- A secure account: you keep your password secret and do not share your account with others. Please tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Compliance with the law: you do not use the service for unlawful purposes and do not violate the rights of others (see § 6 and § 7).
- No misuse: you do not overload our systems, do not attempt to hack them, and do not use automated access that disrupts operation.
5. Your content — your rights
All content you create or upload (recipes, texts, photos, notes, ratings — together “your content”) remains your property. We will not sell your content or use it for advertising.
Your licence to us: so that we can operate your cookbook, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to use your content within the scope of the service — in particular to store, display and prepare it for exports (e.g. PDF) and to process it for the AI functions. The licence also applies to our technical service providers (e.g. hosting, AI services) to the extent necessary for operation.
Public content: if you make a recipe or your profile public, you thereby allow all visitors and users to view your content via the service and to use it within the service (e.g. display, rate, adopt it into their own cookbook or export it as a PDF). This use by others is intended for personal, private cooking.
End of the licence: if you delete your content or your account, our right of use ends. Your content may remain in backup copies for a short transitional period before it is finally removed.
6. Respect the rights of others
Recipes as such — i.e. the idea of which ingredients and preparation steps belong together — are generally free. But: the specific written elaboration of a recipe and photos may be protected by copyright.
Therefore:
- Only upload content you hold the rights to — e.g. your own recipes, your own photos, or content you may use with the rights holder's permission.
- If you take a recipe from a source, state the source where possible and make sure the source permits reuse.
- Only use the photo function (creating a recipe from a photo) with photos you are allowed to use.
- If you adopt someone else's recipe from our service into your cookbook, this is intended for private use — not for republication outside the service.
If you believe that content infringes your rights, contact us via the address given in the imprint. We will review the report and remove unlawful content.
7. Community rules of conduct
In particular, the following are not permitted:
- unlawful, violence-glorifying, discriminatory or obscene content,
- insults, harassment or threats towards other users,
- advertising, spam or commercial solicitations without our consent,
- content that makes false health claims or trivialises dangers,
- impersonating another person or taking over someone else's account,
- automated collection (“scraping”) of user data or content without our consent.
We may remove content or block accounts if these rules are violated (see § 13).
8. Allergies and health: information, not medical promises
Our service may show you allergy information (e.g. if a recipe contains ingredients that you have marked as allergies in your profile). This information is a service — not medical advice. It may contain errors or be incomplete.
Therefore always check the ingredient list yourself — especially with real allergies or intolerances. For health questions, consult doctors or nutrition professionals.
9. AI functions
For some features we use AI support — e.g. to create a recipe draft from a photo, a link or a text, or to create cover images. Important to know:
- AI results are suggestions. They may contain errors or be incomplete — check them before use. This applies in particular to allergy information (see § 8).
- Cover images created with AI support are labelled accordingly (e.g. with the note “AI created”).
- The processing of your data within the AI functions is governed by our Privacy Policy.
10. Availability and changes to the service
We are constantly developing My Nom Nom Book and work on the service within the scope of our available time and resources. Therefore:
- The service is provided without any claim to uninterrupted availability. Short interruptions (e.g. for maintenance or technical faults) are possible.
- We may add, change or discontinue features, as long as this does not devalue the core of the service — your recipe book.
- For major changes we will inform you in good time (e.g. by email or a notice in the service).
11. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence. For simple negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations, and limited to the damage that is typically foreseeable. Essential contractual obligations are those whose fulfilment makes the contract possible in the first place and on which you may rely.
For content by other users we are responsible only to the extent provided by law (we do not continuously review third-party content — but we do respond to reports, see § 6 and § 7).
These limitations of liability do not apply to injury to life, body or health and do not apply to mandatory statutory liability.
12. Termination and deletion
- You can terminate at any time: delete your account in the settings or contact us via the address given in the imprint. We will then remove your content and your profile from the service.
- We can terminate: we may terminate your account with 4 weeks' notice in an orderly manner if we discontinue the service (or a substantial part of it).
- Backups: content may remain in backup copies for a short transitional period before it is finally deleted.
- Details on data processing and your rights can be found in our Privacy Policy.
13. Blocking in case of violations
If you violate these Terms of Use or applicable law, we may block your account temporarily or delete it permanently. For minor violations we will inform you in advance and give you an opportunity to respond. For serious violations (e.g. unlawful content, danger to others) we may act immediately.
14. Changes to these Terms of Use
We may adjust these Terms of Use if, for example, our service or the legal situation changes. The prerequisite is that the changes are reasonable for you and that the core of the service is preserved.
We will announce changes at least 6 weeks before the planned entry into force by email or clearly visible in the service. In the announcement we will once again expressly point out the deadline and your rights. The announcement contains at least: (1) the content or the essential content of the planned change, (2) the date of entry into force, (3) the right to object including the deadline, and (4) the notice that the change will otherwise be deemed approved.
If you object, the user relationship ends at the time the change enters into force. You can then delete your account as described in § 12. If you do not object, the change is deemed approved at the stated time; the user relationship then continues under the amended terms.
15. Final provisions
- Applicable law: German law applies. If you are a consumer with your habitual residence in another country, mandatory consumer protection provisions there remain unaffected.
- Consumer dispute resolution: we are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
- Invalid clauses: should any provision of these Terms of Use be or become invalid in whole or in part, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. Insofar as provisions have not become part of the contract or are invalid, the content of the contract shall be governed by the statutory provisions (§ 306 (2) BGB). A regulation shall take the place of the invalid provision which comes closest to the purpose of the Terms of Use, insofar as no statutory provision exists.
- Privacy: the Privacy Policy applies alongside these Terms of Use.
- Language: these Terms of Use are drawn up in German. Translations into other languages (English, Spanish, French) are for information purposes — the German version is authoritative.
