Waldorf Salad
Celery, apple, walnuts, and grapes in a creamy dressing — invented in 1893 at New York's Waldorf-Astoria. The most elegant classic American salad.

Ingredients

| 300 g | Celery stalks (or celeriac) |
| 2 Stück | Apples (tart, e.g. Boskoop) |
| 80 g | Walnuts |
| 100 g | Grapes (green) |
| 150 g | Mayonnaise |
| 2 EL | Lemon juice |
| 2 EL | Cream (optional) |
| je 1 Prise | Salt, pepper |
Preparation
- 1 Wash the celery, remove the strings, and cut into thin strips.
- 2 Quarter the apples, core them, and cut into thin strips; immediately toss with the lemon juice.
- 3 Halve the grapes and roughly chop the walnuts.
- 4 Stir the mayonnaise with the cream, salt, and pepper, and mix with the celery, apples, and grapes.
- 5 Finally, fold in the walnuts and serve the salad chilled.
Notes & tips
Note: Contains nuts (walnuts) and egg (mayonnaise). Cut the celery and apples just before serving and toss with lemon juice so they do not brown.
