| 1 Rolle (ca. 270 g) | Puff pastry (rolled, from the refrigerated section) |
| 150 g | Cheese (strong, e.g. mountain cheese or Cheddar), grated |
| 1 Stück | Egg (for brushing) |
| 1 EL | Paprika powder or poppy seeds |
Preparation
- 1 Preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2 Roll out the puff pastry, sprinkle cheese over one half and fold the other half over it.
- 3 Roll out the dough lightly, brush with egg and sprinkle with paprika powder or poppy seeds.
- 4 Cut into strips about 1.5 cm wide, twist them slightly and place them on the baking sheet.
- 5 Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown and serve lukewarm.
Notes & tips
Note: Contains gluten, cow's milk and egg. The straws taste best fresh; once baked, they keep in a tin for 2–3 days. Can be varied with caraway or paprika.
